The Jets and Wild have flip-flopped at the top of the division after the Wild caught up to the Jets after their historic start to the season. Recently, the Wild have slipped up, going 5-5-0 in their last 10 games and are currently on a three-game losing streak.
The Jets enter tonight’s contest with a similar record, going 5-4-1 in their last 10 and losers of their most recent game against the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets mustered just 23 shots against Lukas Dostal and the Ducks, resulting in a 3-2 loss.
Connor Hellebuyck will make his 27th start of the season, which will tie him with Nashville Predators netminder Juuse Saros. He also leads the NHL in goals against average (2.15) and is second among all qualified goaltenders in save percentage (.926%)
Kyle Connor has also been vital to the Jets’ success, and his 13 points in the last eight games have kept the Jets afloat. Gabriel Vilardi has also been scoring at a rapid pace as of late, and he is up to 14 goals and 28 points in 34 games.
Kirill Kaprizov will prove to be another difficult forward to slow down, but if the Jets have any hope of coming away from tonight’s game with two points, they’ll need to keep him under wraps.
