President Biden is set to address the nation Wednesday evening in a farewell speech from the Oval Office with just days left to his first and only term.
This will be among Biden’s final speeches as chief executive, and it comes on the same day as a ceasefire deal emerged between Israel and Hamas, marking a major diplomatic win in a conflict that has defined his final year in office.
Biden penned a letter ahead of the address, highlighting his performance on a number of issues over four years and calling on Americans to build on his progress.
He touted the improved economy — including inflation waning, wages going up and the job market rebounding — since he took office. The president also lauded top accomplishments in infrastructure, competition in the semiconductor industry, steps to protect veterans exposed to toxic materials, moves to curb gun violence and climate change, among other things.
The event is scheduled to being at 8 p.m. EST.
