The House Oversight Committee will take a deeper look into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) response and recovery efforts following damage left by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the southeastern U.S.
FEMA Director Deanne Criswell is slated to testify at the hearing. The agency has come under scrutiny following the termination of an employee who claimed she was advised not to provide assistance to homes with campaign signs for President-elect Trump. The controversy also comes after officials warned that misinformation could complicate the recovery process.
The House Transportation Committee held a similar hearing earlier Tuesday.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EST.
